Anti - Anti - War

I think most everyone that knows me knows my feelings on the war. I won't rehash those. This is about the anti-war crowd and their claims. I have heard anti-war protesters and most of their arguments against the war. I have yet to hear a VALID argument against the war. As a matter of fact, the anti-war crowd shows their ignorance with most of the arguments and at their rallies with the signs they carry. I will go down the list of the most common arguments and dispute them.

No War For Oil - This seems to be their rally cry, This is the most common and the easiest to dispute. We get 0% of our oil from Iraq! even before the first gulf war, I think we got less the 10% then. How is this a war for oil? We didn't keep kawaits oil fields when we liberated them and will not keep Iraq's oil either. We get most of our oil from Canada and Venezuela. That argument is false.

War is Terrorism - This is just plain stupid. Terrorism is attacks on civilians to terrify them, the war is targeting military targets. sure, some civilians will get hurt and killed, but they are not the targets of the attacks. We even gave them notice when we were attacking to hopefully avoid hurting them. We got no such courtesy from the terrorist that hit the WTC.

War will make them hate us more - They hate us, they will continue to hate us and will continue to teach their children to hate us. this is a fact. whether or not we liberate Iraq. They will find a reason to use against us, and if we hadn't gone into Iraq, they would probably use that against us too. This may change and may change faster if the governments that suppress and control the information of the people in their country change or are changed.

War is Stupid - while true, unfortunately, it still is sometimes necessary. hopefully it will someday not be.

War is never necessary - This is VERY stupid, I don't think Hitler agreed with that. he found war very necessary, and used it to his advantage. And the French thought it wasn't necessary, and used diplomacy to appease him (meaning they GAVE him Czechoslovakia). France was later taken by Hitler!

Bush = Hitler - This shows the massive stupidity of the writer of these anti-war signs. How can you possibly compare a dictator that killed hundreds of thousands of Jews, Polish, czech, hungarian, etc to an elected president who is supported by over 70% of the American public who is trying to free the Iraqi people from a dictator that is much like Hitler. Saddom has admitted just recently to have used gas agents on Iran and on his own people in '93 - '94. Before admitting it, he had said that he had never used them.

there are more arguments, these are just the ones I have heard the most. I also heard a 7th grade student speak at a rally.

'If what the White House is putting out is democracy, then I don't know what democracy is.'

The sentence doesn't make much sense, but it is obvious that he doesn't know what democracy is. That he is speaking out against the government is democracy, so what is coming out of the White House is democracy. You don't see this in Iraq!

I don't watch much of the rallies, the ones I have seen piss me off. Not because they are anti-war, I support their right too protest, but because the participants are Dancing, Jumping, Singing, Smiling and having a good old time. Is it a rally or a rave? Are they protesting or partying? Sure there are some that are serious, but most just look like that want to have fun and be part of the group.

The media seems to love showing all the anti-war rallies and I'm sure the terrorist love them too. Each rally is that many less police officers in their way!

I also object to the church speaking out against the war. The Dope seems to think that war is wrong. That sounds hypocritical for an institution that has a really bad track record. Religion has spawned more war, death and destruction then any other reason. And the Dope and the church sat back quietly as Hitler fired up the ovens.

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush. He answered by saying that, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return." It became very quiet in the room.
