'Who is this GOD person anyway?'

I was in church today, not by choice of course. It was the anniversary of my fathers death on 4/18 and my mom had a special service there for him. I just don't understand religion. I don't believe in GOD, but i in no way try to convince anyone to my views. I in no way hide my views either tho' and most everyone that knows me knows them. I think that religious people get offended by my views though, some go out of their way to try to convince me I am wrong. well here I will post how I think of GOD. Before getting into it, let me state that I have read the bible, all of the old testament and most of the new. I haven't memorized it and can't quote scripture, It has also been quite a while so some of the stories may be a little foggy in my mind. I thought it was ok, kind of like short stories that were all linked together. some stories better then others. But that is all I think it is, stories. All religions have stories, lots of them similar to the ones in the bible. Some of the stories may have a basis in factual events. but as with most stories passed down over time, they tend to get exaggerated.

So why don't I like religion? I think most religious people are hypocrites, they have a holier then thou attitude. they go to church and preach the word and look down on you if you disagree with their views, yet if you look closer, they are fucking their secretaries/pool boy/choirboy. They steal and con and drink and do drugs and do hookers and then they go back to preaching the word and expect to get to heaven? Even the ones that are not that religious but just go to church on Sundays, this is supposed to make up for all the sins they commit during the rest of the week? Don't come preaching to me when I know you have been paying the schoolboys to blow you. I read the most horribly written book, written by some religious authors that is really popular (actually, I didn't finish it, it was written way to badly to complete, I only read 3/4 of it before giving up) It even became a video I think. I think it was called Left Behind and has alot of sequels. It deals with the rapture, all the 'good' christians are taken to heaven and the rest are left on earth. In the book when they are taken, planes fall from the sky, there are massive car wrecks, and all these other things cause of all the people that are taken to heaven. BULLSHIT, I doubt that 1% of the population would disappear. I can tell you right now that the only person I know might disappear would be my mom. Everyone of you fuckers would stay here with me. I'm pretty sure that most everyone i have EVER known would stay here. There is a lady at my work that says the rapture is coming in her lifetime, well she better say good bye to heaven cause she sure isn't going!

The lady at work and in the book say that all the children are taken and all those that follow the teachings of the bible are taken. Which bible? the christian, catholic, jewish, the koran, muslin, hindu? all of them have their own version of the rapture. which religion should i follow? and what of the people that have never heard of the 'correct' religion? do they burn in hell cause they were never shown the way? I figure if you lead a good life you should get into heaven, but GOD is a jealous GOD, you can't worship any other god or you burn in hell. so pray some tribe deep in the amazon jungle are not the only ones who chose wisely and you chose poorly.

I don't buy the GOD thing... I'm told to look around at the beauty all around, the tree and flowers, the animals and life. GOD must've had a hand in all of it. I agree that there is alot of beauty, but look again, there is a bulldozer running over the flowers to rip up those trees, pouring black smoke into the once blue sky to put in a new shopping mall. There is a hunter taking down the animals just to mount their heads on a plaque. there are twenty idiots hijacking planes to plow them into buildings. For all the beauty in the world there is just as much ugliness. for all the good there is just as much (or more) bad. so that really isn't a compelling argument. There are wars mostly over religion, children dying of hunger and disease, people killing themselves over nothing. Why would GOD just sit back and let all this happen? Would you let your children trash your house and kill some of your other children?

With all the misery, suffering and dying in the world, I don't think anything will convince me. What can you use to justify almost 3000 people dying in two towers? Or a madman killing his own people with chemical weapons? Or a man killing his wife and unborn son and dumping her in the ocean? And I can go on and on and on... I hate when I hear a person after a tragedy saying GOD will see them though... isn't he the one who FUCKED them in the first place? I also hate the old 'GOD is testing us' bullshit. What the Fuck are we, lab rats? Then he is a fucking mad scientist, torturing us when he sees fit and he really does not give a shit about us. We are ants and he is a kid with a magnifying glass and cares about us as much as we care about the ants, probably even less
