'Who is this GOD person anyway?'
Part 2
I find that most people don't understand why I don't like religion much. It does have it's good points sometimes , but on the whole, I think the bad outweighs the good.
You want to know why? you just have to go back to Sept. 11 to know why. Sure they were radical in their religion, but it is a religion that made them slam those planes into the towers. that doesn't make all muslins bad, I know that, but it does illustrate all that is bad with religion. The 'I am better then you' and 'I am right and you are wrong' philosophy taken to the extreme. And the thinking that it is just the extreme fringe element is incorrect. If you think only radical muslims are the problem, then you don't read the papers and watch the news. The Israelis and Palestinians who are genetically the same kill each other every day, Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland, etc. Look back in history and you'll find that religion has caused more death and destruction then any other reason, more wars are fought because of it. The Spanish Inquisition, the salem witch trials, all the people the church has executed for heresy, the Pope himself turning a blind eye to Hitler's extermination of the Jews. and as noted before, the deaths still continue.
The Church does good things like help to feed the starving and find shelter for the homeless. Missionaries do the same, but their true agenda is to convert the pagans to their religion. As was done in America and other countries, the pagans were converted... or killed. Atheist have been killed throughout history just because of their beliefs, or non-beliefs so to speak, Scientist were hunted down and killed if there theories didn't meet the churches views.
While nowadays in the US, you can say the this doesn't happen, you would be wrong. sure it is not as prevalent as in other countries or in past times, as an atheist, religious people always want to try and convert me. This is not the worst of it, how many abortion doctors have been killed? these are religious people that kill them. Do they not ridicule the atheists that want the religion out of the government? The ten commandments removal caused a huge controversy, death threats were made against the 'pagans' who sought it's removal. books are commonly removed from schools and libraries because of religious objections. It may not be as bad as other countries, but it would be if the church had its way.
No I don't much care for religion.
